I just want to take the chance to thank all of my customers over this past year. It was a great year for kd designs. I am blessed by each of you. Thank you for being a part of my little passion.
After the hustle of all the Christmas orders, I am taking a short break to recover and refresh. Thanks to you all, I sold out of nearly all of my instock designs so that means all new designs coming soon.
I hope to have some new designs to post by the end of the month. CAbi spring 2010 is debuting in a few weeks and I am excited to see what they have out this season to inspire me. I am always looking at the new fashion trends and getting great new ideas, but there are always some of my favorites that keep popping back up.
Check back in a few weeks to see what is new. Happy New Year!

Holiday Sale Preview
It is that time of year again! Time to get ready for Christmas. I am again doing my annual Holiday Studio Sale on Nov 13 and 14th and I thought it would be fun to post a few of my recent creations. I love this sale because I can make a lot of different things and it does not matter if it is one of kind. This is the time that I often make pieces from random pendants and stones that I have picked up from all over the place. It is fun. This is also the time I think of fall and winter styles, higher neckline or sweaters where we could wear bulkier pieces. My sale is fun, with other hand made non jewelry items available, yummy food and I think this year we will even have a friend of my who is a massage therapist be available for free chair massages! The best shopping experience. Plus I always have great sales to allow you to buy your gifts and get something for yourself. If you live in the Vancouver/Portland area and would like an invite please contact me directly at kd-designs@live.com.
If you cannot make it to the show and would like to order on-line, it is easy. Just email me at kd-designs@live.com and let me know what you are interested in. I have a pay pal account that makes it simple for credit or debit card transactions and I usually mail out within a day or 2.
Enjoy the preview....

Taupe Floating Pearl $20 (earrings not shown $5)
I love this style right now and have several similar pieces. I use copper wire and in this piece the freshwater pearls have an iridescent taupe, brown, olive and copper hue. It really goes with anything and it is so light you barely feel you are wearing anything. The length hits right at your collar bone and looks great with a t-shirt or a collared blouse.

Peacock Floating Pearl $2o
Again on copper wire, but this time with peacock pearls, which have blues, purples, greys and greens all mixed in. It looks great with black or blues or purples in your wardrobe.

Patina and Silver $25 (earrings not shown $5)
I love these blue/green/copper beads and in this piece I combined them with silver and pale green blue glass beads. It is a pretty combination with a silver disc pendant.

Pale Blue Floating Pearl $20 (earrings not shown $5)
This floating necklace uses silver wire and pretty grey and pale blue freshwater pearls, it is light and so pretty.

Black Floating Sparkle $20 (earrings not shown $5)
I love this piece as we always need something simple to go with the pretty black and white that we wear around the holidays. This is simple with just the perfect amount of sparkle.

Triple Sunset $25 (earrings not shown $5)
This is one of my favorites for the season. Each one is different but they include a mixture of stone, metal, glass and seed beads in red, brown, orange, gold and copper. It looks great with all the fall colors in your wardrobe.
Green Rounds $25
This a fun piece with these unique green stone beads mixed with glass and sparkle and bronze.
Sea foam Chain $25
I found this cool amanozite pendant at the beach and I love how this piece turned out. It is longer that most but is still delicate and pretty.

Patina and Copper $25 (earrings not shown $5)
Similar to the patina and silver but this is done with copper and little copper flowers. It is so pretty and looks great with brown and the pale blue that looks so nice together.
Well there is your preview... there is much more to come. Hope to see you at the Studio Sale!

More CAbi Fall 09 designs as promised!
I have really enjoyed designing for this fall. Fall colors are my favorite so I am usually most creative this time of year. Here are a few more designs that I have been working on, they all compliment the CAbi line but if you don't buy CAbi you will still love the variety of these pieces. Colors and stone and glass combinations that really look great.
This looks great with all the camel, browns and creams in the fall line. I especially love it with the skin print tunic, the chestnut v-neck and the dark chocolate and honey hanky wrap.
Lime teardrop $20
This is soft and pretty and compliments the Slouchy V-neck, and looks great with the Chinoiserie Jacket.
This is soft and pretty and compliments the Slouchy V-neck, and looks great with the Chinoiserie Jacket.
I love this fun piece, it hangs a little longer which is nice when we are wearing sweaters and blazers in the fall. I love this with the Cinch Vest, the Pine Coat, the Chinoiserie Jacket, and the slouchy V-neck. It also looks great with a white oxford style shirt like the Ultimate Shirt.
This simple piece looks great with everything. Each necklace is unique as the fossil on the stones vary in shade and design. I love this with all the white tops and the earth tones in the fall line. I love the look with the City Blouse.
This is a fun and colorful piece to coordinate with all the deep purples and greens in the season. It is a combination of glass and natural stones that is unique and looks great with the Deep Orchid hanky Wrap, and the Sonnet Blouse.
This necklace can be worn alone or layered with other pieces. It is just the right amount of sparkle for a crisp fall day. I love it with the pearl blouse and the skin print tunic, but it looks great with the hanky wraps and the Vneck sweaters too.
I don't usually make a lot of blue pieces but I really love this one because it combines many different shades of blue so it really will match every shade of blue in your closet. I love it with the Night Sky Hanky Wrap and the Pleated Tee.
This is another simple but very pretty piece that looks great with all the green and deep purples this season.
I love the shimmer of these teardrop cream pearls with the gold chain. It is pretty and unexpected. I love this with the black little dress or with the v-neck sweaters. It is very versatile and compliments all the colors in your fall wardrobe.

CAbi Fall 2009 inspired jewelry!
I love CAbi clothing. Carol Anderson by invitation is an amazing clothing line that debuts a new line of clothes every spring and fall. The Fall 09 collection was just released and I had a chance to see it in person last week. I love the fall and the colors that come with it. I love to create a line of jewelry for all my friends and fellow CAbi women that is completely inspired by the collection. This season there is a lot of black, charcoal, and silver which is always classic. Plus there are some amazing browns, oranges, purples and greens. I had fun coming up with flexible designs that coordinate with several pieces in this collection and likely with other favorites from your own closet. These items of course are not exclusive to CAbi clothing but I do make an effort to list all of the pieces that I had in mind for each necklace to help CAbi shoppers find the perfect accessory for their outfit.
With this collection of jewelry, I found myself drawn to glass beads with a little sparkle, multiple shades of freshwater pearls, and antique golds. Gold is back by the way! Warm earthy colors blended with metal and sparkle are woven throughout the collection. I have started using many more chains and seed beads with several length to choose from. I also made a few classic pieces that will go with almost anything in your wardrobe. I am still creating so keep posted for even more new designs in the future. Enjoy!

Chantilly Double Pearl $30 Earrings $5 (not shown)
This is a beautiful and very versatile piece. It is a mixture of peacock, steel blue, spruce green and silver freshwater pearls that compliments black, blue, silver, grey and whites wonderfully. I originally designed this piece for the Chantilly Tunic, which I just love. But it also looks amazing with Black Silky Cami, The Perfectly Chic Dress, The green Slouchy V-neck, the Beethoven Blouse, the Night Sky Hanky Wrap, the Pleated Tee and really incredible with the Chinoiserie Jacket. It will compliment any scoop neckline and pick out different colors depending on what you wear. You just cannot go wrong with this piece.
I love this piece, it is simple and pretty. It adjusts to several lengths depending on your neckline and flatters a V-neck blouse best. I love this with the Green Slouchy V-Neck Sweater, the Chinoiserie Jacket, The Chestnut V-neck Sweater, and the Dark Chocolate, Deep Orchid and Honey Hanky Wraps. The glass beads are beautiful when the light catches them and the vintage style chain is very flexible with browns and blacks.
There are many collared shirts on the line this season, many in white and some in blues and cream. I love this simple and delicate necklace with all of the white and collared shirts on the fall line. It looks great with the Button Back Oxford, the Penelope Blouse, the Moonbeam blouse, the Arabella Blouse, the City Blouse, the Chantilly Tunic, the Ultimate Shirt, the Beethoven Blouse, the Love Story Tee, the Winter Scene Tee, the Pearl Blouse and the Lacy Girlie Tee. It is likely the most flexible piece in this collection.
Beady Black Triple Sparkle $25 earrings $5 (not shown)
When I first saw the line, everything I wanted was black or had black on it. With the neckline being higher in the fall and winter, I wanted to create something that would look great with all the shades of grey, silver and black on the line. This piece is made with tiny smokey sparkle seed beads with a random spacing of black, silver and grey sparkle clusters. The longest layer is 27 inches. This looks wonderful with the Tube Sweater, the Black Flatter Me Tee, the Square Front Turtleneck, the Silky Cami, the Grab and Go Coat, the Knit Blazer and the Reversible Puffer Vest. But I specifically created it for the Perfectly Chic Dress, the Perfect Sweater and the Bubble Knit Bolero. You will love how light and pretty this piece is.

My favorite autumn colors sparkle on this piece with bronze freshwater pearls, glass and gold beads and a stunning gold pendant. This was inspired by the Cinch It Vest and the Chocolate Second Skin Turtleneck. It also looks great with the Chestnut V-Neck Sweater and the Persimmon Cardigan. I love it with the Chinosierie jacket and the Green Slouchy V-neck and the Chocolate and Honey Hanky Wraps. It is the perfect fall piece.
Deep purples and orchid colors are woven throughout the fall colors. This piece is striking with the large deep orchid glass teardrop pendant and the vintage gold chain. I created this necklace with the Shadow Wrap Dress and the Chinoiserie Jacket in mind. It looks great with browns, blacks, greens and the Deep Orchid Hanky Wrap. It especially flatters a V-Neck neckline and is adjustable in length.
Gold is back! I love this funky style that is simple but unexpected. It is long at 35 inches but can also be double to sit right at your neckline. I love this look in the fall and winter when you need a something longer to stand out with sweaters and jackets. It is very flattering with the Perfectly Chic Dress and with the Alpine Shrug and looks great with all the sweaters and tunics on the line. I use a chunky brassy gold chain with pearls dangling from the bottom section of the necklace. It is really fun.
I made this piece for the Spring line but I only made 2. I have had many requests for this necklace so I decided to recreate it for the Fall line. It really is timeless and compliments every season. This is more playful than your traditional pearl necklace and really adds a statement to any outfit. I love it with the Alpine Shrug, the Chantilly Tunic, the Tube Sweater and the Perfectly Chic Dress.
I hope you enjoyed my jewelry inspired by the CAbi Fall 09 Collection. I am constantly creating new pieces so always stay in touch for new designs and feel free to email me directly with orders or custom design requests at kd-design@live.com. Thanks and Happy Fall.

More fun things for summer!
I have been feeling super creative lately and have designs tons of new pieces. The summer is always fun because we all tend to wear more jewelry in the summer and I have lots of jewelry shows to do so I am constantly thinking of new things to create. I have recently been especially drawn to ocean colors and metal. I have lots of pieces with copper, silver or antique gold chains mixed with blues and greens. I have 2 shows coming up, one this weekend and one in July so check out the upcoming events area for details. Jewelry is always better in person. Enjoy the newest creations.
